The Event

In 2020, we launched our inaugural poetry prize with a call-out encouraging writers to compose a poem using the Latin phrase ‘de rerum natura’ (‘on the nature of things’) as a starting point. How our poets used the phrase was completely up to them.

With the help of three wonderful judges, Blake Morrison, Deanna Rodger and Ella Hickson, we chose a longlist of fifteen poems, and from that a shortlist of nine, which we felt were the most successful in terms of style, language and engagement with the prompt.

On the 17th March we will be gathering on Zoom with poets from the longlist, who will read their poems and spend a little time sharing their intentions behind it. Join us, in association with The Broadway Bookshop, to hear some of our poets’ wonderful work.
